PSG Rule Out Midfield Signing, Trust Vitinha And Joao Neves To Lead The Way

Paris Saint-Germain have no intention of signing a new midfielder before the summer transfer window closes, with the club’s hierarchy convinced their existing options are already good enough to defend the Ligue 1 and Champions League double.

According to a fresh update from RMC Sport, Luis Campos and the PSG board see the middle of the park as the one area of the squad that does not need strengthening this summer, even as the club pushes ahead with a defensive addition and hunts for at least two attacking reinforcements. Vitinha, Joao Neves, Warren Zaire-Emery and January arrival Dro Fernandez are all viewed as first-team ready, while Fabian Ruiz and Senny Mayulu are both expected to put pen to paper on new deals in the coming weeks.

David Ornstein Confirms Ayyoub Bouaddi Verdict

The stance lines up with David Ornstein’s reporting for The Athletic that PSG have stepped back from a move for Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, with Campos and Luis Enrique directing the recruitment budget toward a left-back and a right winger instead. Bouaddi, contracted at Lille until 2029, remains attractive to Manchester City, Arsenal and Real Madrid, but Paris has made its choice.

Part of that confidence rests on Lucas Beraldo, whose versatility across midfield and defence gives Luis Enrique extra cover without a specialist signing. RMC Sport reports the only scenario that would send PSG back into the market is an unexpected departure, which is not currently being planned for.

The decision comes as PSG close in on Lucas Digne to shore up the left side of defence and continue to negotiate a deal for Ferran Torres, with Luis Enrique keen to add proven quality in the final third before pre-season begins in earnest. For now, though, the message from the Parc des Princes is clear: the engine room picks itself.
