Arsenal legend Pires predicts victory over PSG in UCL final

Former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires has tipped the Gunners for ultimate glory in the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

The retired Frenchman was part of the Gunners squad that reached the 2006 final in Paris but lost 2-1 with 10 men to Barcelona.

The North London outfit are back in the final after 20 years, and Pires believes they are more hungry for success than PSG.

“PSG is going to miss out on the final, plain and simple. I could see that the Parisian players are less hungry,” he said.

“They were crowned French champions, they’ll arrive in Budapest a little too complacent.

“They’ll get countered and really put through the wringer by the Arsenal players. That’s why Paris won’t win.”

Milestones at stake

Arsenal will aiming to win their long-awaited first Champions League title and the second London team after rivals Chelsea.

PSG meanwhile are aiming to become the first French team to win back-to-back titles, and only the second after Real Madrid under the competition’s current name.
