Luis Enrique is fully aware that his Paris Saint-Germain side are about to face a real juggernaut. Speaking at a press conference on the eve of the Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich, the Spanish manager was quick to pay tribute to his opponents’ qualities and to praise their manager, Vincent Kompany.
“He’s a top-class manager; he proved that in England,” lauded Enrique. “He arrived at Bayern two years ago, and we saw right from the start how difficult it is to play against him. His team is one of my favourites to watch. I like all managers, but especially attacking ones, and he is undoubtedly one of them.”
Having already secured the German title, the Rekordmeister capped off their championship by setting a new record for goals scored in a single Bundesliga season. In their 2025-26 incarnation, the Bavarians have thus scored 113 goals with three matches remaining in their campaign… 12 more than they scored in the entire 1971-72 term.
However, whilst the Asturian concedes that Bayern Munich are “a little bit ahead” of PSG in terms of consistency, he remains adamant: “If we’re talking about what we show as a team, we’re ahead. There’s no team better than ours.”
“I said it at the start of the season already, after the league phase,” he recalled. “We have a lot of respect for the big teams, like Liverpool or Chelsea, and we’ll have the same for Bayern Munich.”
