For first time in the public, Achraf Hakimi has denied the rape allegations levelled against him as ‘false’.
Hakimi made the remarks during Monday’s press conference before PSG face Liverpool for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
Hakimi was sent to trial in February over alleged rape incidents from 2023.
With the case now referred to the departmental criminal court of Hauts-de-Seine and still awaiting a trial date, the 2025 African Footballer of te Year firmly denied the allegations.
Hakimi said: “Trial? That accusation is false.
“I’m focused on what comes next. I’m letting my lawyers do their job.”
The rape allegation has left a negative impact on Hakimi’s career with the Moroccan defender recently denied a chance to defend the Marc-Vivien Foe award this year.
Hakimi credits Enrique for improved form
The former Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund defender has praised his Spanish coach Luis Enrique for contributing to his development.
Hakimi noted that Enrique’s playing style has positively influenced him and Nuno Mendes who have become a key duo in Paris.
“The arrival of Luis Enrique has changed my vision of football, especially as a full-back,” he added.
“It’s a pleasure to have a coach with these ideas, and I think it shows in the performances of Nuno and me.”
Hakimi has contributed six assists in the Champions League this season and is expected to make his 11th appearance in the competition at Anfield.
