Hakimi Travel Issue Gives PSG New Morocco World Cup Concern

Achraf Hakimi’s Morocco campaign has moved from group-stage momentum into a far more delicate Paris Saint-Germain watchpoint.

Morocco are through to the World Cup knockouts after a chaotic 4-2 win over Haiti, with The Sun reporting that Hakimi scored and the Atlas Lions secured their place in the next phase. For PSG, that should have been a clean sporting positive after another elite-level contribution from one of Luis Enrique’s most important defenders.

Morocco Route Creates A PSG Watchpoint

The complication is external. talkSPORT has reported that Hakimi could face a World Cup travel issue if Morocco’s knockout route takes them to Mexico, after the PSG defender was ordered to stand trial in France on a rape charge.

Hakimi has denied the allegation, and The New Arab reported that his appeal against referral to a criminal court was rejected. No trial has taken place and no conviction has been recorded.

That distinction matters. This is not a PSG selection issue and not a club disciplinary matter. It is a tournament availability risk around one of the players PSG expect to return as a senior pillar of their post-World Cup reset.

ReadPSG has already tracked the broader Hakimi Morocco scrutiny. The fresh layer is logistical: Morocco’s progress keeps the story alive, and PSG will be watching the draw as closely as the performance data.
