Bayern Munich’s all-rounder Raphaël Guerreiro will be “out for an indefinite period” and has already been withdrawn from the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, the German club announced on Sunday.
Starting in the Bavarians’ away match at Mainz on Saturday (3-4), the Portuguese player was forced to come off shortly before the hour mark, being replaced by Jamal Musiala. Tests carried out after the match revealed a muscle tear in the hamstrings of his left leg.
Having made 27 appearances in all competitions since the start of the season, the Blanc-Mesnil native has scored six goals and provided three assists.
Karl and Bischof sidelined for the first leg?
Already without Guerreiro, Vincent Kompany will also have to cope with the absence of Serge Gnabry, who has sustained an injury to his right thigh and will not be available for three months.
On the Parc des Princes pitch, the Bayern manager is also unlikely to be able to call upon Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof, both of whom are too short of match fitness to be in contention for a place in the Munich squad following their recent injuries. Their presence for next week’s return leg cannot, however, be excluded.
As for the rest, Kompany is expected to field a fairly standard starting eleven, notably featuring the two French players Dayot Upamecano and Michael Olise.
