Mary Earps has said London City Lionesses are not far away from Champions League qualification after leaving Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
The former PSG goalkeeper has signed a two-year deal with London City through to 2028 and is already framing the move around European ambition, according to ESPN’s fresh update on Earps’ London City target.
Earps spent two seasons in Paris after joining PSG from Manchester United in 2024, but the 33-year-old has now returned to the Women’s Super League with a club that finished sixth in its debut top-flight campaign.
Earps Move Gives PSG A Clear Summer Goalkeeping Gap
The timing matters for PSG because Earps was one of the highest-profile names in the women’s squad and her exit now leaves Paris needing clarity in goal before the next Première Ligue and European campaigns.
For London City, the message is deliberately ambitious. Earps is not presenting the switch as a step down from Paris, but as a chance to help a heavily backed WSL project move quickly towards the Champions League places.
That is the sting for PSG supporters. Earps’ Paris spell brought star power and experience, yet her next public target is now tied to another club’s rise. PSG must ensure her departure does not become another symbol of a summer in which rivals look more convincing in their recruitment planning.
