Mallorca 3-0 PSG: Paris Fall in First Friendly

Paris Saint-Germain opened their pre-season with a chastening 3-0 defeat to Mallorca, as Luis Enrique’s side fell in their first friendly of the summer on Wednesday. The reigning European champions were beaten by their La Liga hosts in a low-key start to preparations for the new campaign.

It was a rare off-night for a squad that has grown used to winning. Paris go into 2026-27 as back-to-back Champions League winners and reigning Ligue 1 champions, yet there was little of that swagger against Mallorca, who ran out comfortable 3-0 winners. With fitness rather than results the priority this early in the summer, Luis Enrique will not read too much into a single friendly — though the manner of the defeat still gives Les Parisiens plenty to work on.

What the first friendly told Luis Enrique

On PSG’s official website, Luis Enrique framed the outing as “a match to improve our physical condition”, underlining that sharpness and match minutes, not the scoreline, were the point of the exercise at this stage of pre-season.

There is little time to dwell on it. Paris are back in action next week, facing Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup in Salzburg on 12 August — a meeting of Europe’s continental winners and the club’s first shot at silverware this season. Les Parisiens will want a far sharper showing when the trophies are on the line.
