Speaking at a press conference two days ahead of the clash with Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyonnais manager Paulo Fonseca announced that his captain, Corentin Tolisso (31), would be out of the match due to an adductor injury.
“It’s the same story at every press conference; we’re still missing a lot of players,” the Portuguese manager lamented in front of the media. “This time, we’re without Coco (Tolisso). I knew when I brought him on in the second half against Lorient (2-0) last week that it was a risk. We needed him, but I knew we were taking a risk for the next match. And he’s not ready.”
A key member of Fonseca’s squad, Tolisso has started 31 of the 35 matches he has played since the start of the season, finding the net 12 times (including eight in Ligue 1, a personal joint career record) and providing three assists.
Several key player absences for Lyon
Unfortunately for OL, the 2018 World Cup winner will not be the only Rouge et Bleu player missing from the Parc des Princes pitch this Sunday. Pavel Sulč (25), Malick Fofana (21), Rémi Himbert (18), Ernest Nuamah (22) – who has been injured for a year and is expected to return next week – and Nicolás Tagliafico (33), who is suspended following his red card in the home match against AS Monaco (1-2) on 22nd March, will all be unavailable.
Ruben Kluivert (24), who made his return to the pitch against Les Merlus last Sunday, is, however, available for selection.
