Current Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembele says he is not focused on retaining his crown at the moment.
The 29-year-old Frenchman won last year’s award as the best player in the world ahead of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Paris Saint-Germain teammate Vitinha.
Dembele is tipped to win the award again as PSG won a club-record fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title, and are set to defend their UEFA Champions League crown against Arsenal in Budapest on May 30.
“I’m very calm, as I said, individual trophies come later, if they come, if they don’t, that’s how it is,” the former Borussia Dortmund player said.
“The most important thing is the team titles; we won Ligue 1, the [UEFA] Super Cup, the [FIFA] Intercontinental Cup, and on May 30th, we will achieve something great for all PSG fans.”
Dembele with UNFP Awards
The Vernon native has already been crowned as the UNFP Ligue 1 player of the year, retaining the individual honour he won last season as PSG completed a historic treble.
