Gabriel Moscardo Espanyol Loan Gives PSG Clear Test

Gabriel Moscardo is closing in on another loan away from Paris Saint-Germain, with Espanyol now positioned to win the race for the Brazilian midfielder.

According to AS, the 20-year-old is expected to become Espanyol’s third summer arrival after productive talks with PSG and the player. Fabrizio Romano has also reported that Espanyol are advancing on a loan deal, with the Spanish club set to cover his salary.

Luis Enrique Faces Moscardo Development Call

For PSG, this is less about giving up on Moscardo than accepting the current midfield reality. Luis Enrique’s options are stacked, and a player bought from Corinthians in 2024 for an initial EUR20million needs rhythm, not another season waiting for isolated minutes.

PSG’s own profile of the midfielder notes his pathway through Corinthians, his contract through 2028 and his previous loan steps at Reims and Braga. AS adds that he played 39 matches for Braga last season, including nine in Europe, which strengthens the case for a higher-pressure La Liga platform.

Espanyol would offer Moscardo a cleaner route to weekly football. For PSG, the calculation is obvious: protect the asset, keep control of the contract, and let Spain test whether he can return as a genuine squad option rather than another blocked prospect. That is the kind of controlled loan PSG have to get right.
