Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique is open to the idea of using a new goalkeeper in Saturday’s Ligue 1 tie with Lorient.
Lucas Chevalier is currently out with a muscle injury, leaving only Matvey Safonov as the only leading goalkeeper.
Enrique is likely to name a fringe side against Lorient, with a possibility that Safanov would be rested. This could be give Renato Marin a chance to make League debut.
“The goalkeeper position is a different one. I’m open to changes in football, and that’s how I feel about every position,“ the Spaniard said.
“We’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out who’ll start; I don’t want to give Lorient any information. These aren’t easy decisions.”
Looking ahead to the Lorient game, Enrique added: “Every match is different, and every match has its own challenges. We need to pick up all three points against Lorient. We need to analyse everything to choose the the best options.”
Difficult Lorient for PSG
The Parisians have won only one of their last four Ligue 1 matches against Lorient (D2 L1). The reverse fixture at Stade du Moustoir ended 1-1.
Failing to win on Saturday would see PSG endure their first winless season against Lorient since the 2010-11 campaign.
Lorient are also unbeaten in their last two away league games against PSG (W1 D1), and have the second best away win percentage against the capital club (35%) among club Ligue 1 clubs after AS Monaco (38%).
