PSG express interest in Maghnes Akliouche, facing Premier League competition

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in Maghnes Akliouche (24) ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.

Although his contract with AS Monaco runs until June 2028, the French attacking midfielder finds himself at a turning point in his young career. A key player in Sébastien Pocognoli’s side, his consistent performances are likely to be rewarded with his first World Cup appearance, for which Didier Deschamps is expected to call him up next summer.

An opportunity for Akliouche to make his mark on the world stage in the most prestigious of competitions, at a time when the question of his future has come up repeatedly in recent months. Whilst he does not wish to comment on a potential upcoming departure, the time seems to have come for him to take his career to the next level.

And it is in France, further north, that he might well end up. Because PSG’s interest in the Tremblay-en-France native – seen as a suitable signing who fits in with the club’s project – is nothing new, and an attempt to secure his services during the next transfer window seems far from unrealistic. But to do so, the reigning European champions will need to make a convincing case, as Premier League clubs could well throw their hats into the ring too.

Having been part of Monaco’s first-team squad for nearly five years, Akliouche now seems ready to spread his wings. All that remains to be seen is where exactly he will land.

matchday.
