Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos has emerged as a doubt for Brazil’s friendly game against the United States on April 26.
Brazilian media, Globo reported that Marquinhos left Brazil training in Orlando early on Monday with a suspected thigh injury and he only participated in a small-sided game.
Before leaving the training, the 31-year-old had a massage with a physiotherapist, then had a quick chat with Carlo Ancelotti and he is now a doubt for the game against Didier Deschamps’ France on Thursday.
Marquinhos joins Brazil injury list
Marquinhos becomes the latest injury worry for Carlo Ancelotti in the United States after the withdrawal of defenders Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal) and Alex Sandro (Flamengo).
With 103 caps since his debut in 2013, the PSG centre-back is in contention to leapfrog sixth-placed Lucio (105 appearances) in Brazil’s all-time appearance record list.
Brazil’s games in the United States this month are planned to get the Selecao ready for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with their final warm-up match fixed for June 6 against Egypt.
