Paris Saint-Germain have downplayed the severity of the injuries suffered by Nuno Mendes and Desire Doue in their UEFA Champions League victory against Liverpool on Tuesday.
The Ligue 1 leaders confirmed that Mendes only felt pain in his hamstring while Doue had a knock on his right knee, with both players expected to miss team training for just two days.
Mendes was the first player to limp off at Anfield on Tuesday followed by Doue in the second half after hitting his ankle on the advertising board.
Prior to the club’s statement, manager Luis Enrique had described two injuries as nothing serious and their substitutions as precautionary.
The club statement read: “Having suffered a knock to his right knee during the match against Liverpool, Desire Doue will undergo treatment over the next two days before returning to team training.
“Nuno Mendes is experiencing some minor discomfort in his right thigh. He will undergo treatment and do gym work over the next two days.”
Training resumes at PSG Campus
Following the 4-0 aggregate win against Liverpool in the Champions League, PSG players and coaching crew returned to Paris on Wednesday.
Unused substitutes in Tuesday’s game at Anfield immediately returned to training at the PSG Campus as preparations begin for Sunday’s Ligue 1 match against Olympique Lyon.
Among the players spotted in Wednesday’s session were Goncalo Ramos, Lucas Chevalier, Lee Kang-in and Senny Mayulu.
