Willian Pacho Reveals the Luis Enrique Call That Sealed His PSG Move

Willian Pacho has revealed how his move to Paris Saint-Germain came together, with a secret dinner alongside sporting advisor Luís Campos and a surprise FaceTime call from Luis Enrique convincing the centre-back that Paris was the right home. According to Goal, Pacho described the recruitment process as “like in the movies”.

How Willian Pacho was won over by Paris

The defender has since become a fixture in a PSG side that has won the Champions League in back-to-back seasons, most recently beating Arsenal on penalties in the 2026 final. beIN Sports reported that Pacho credited Luis Enrique for both his own development and the team’s recent success, with the head coach’s unexpected personal call proving the decisive moment in bringing him to the Parc des Princes.

It was a pursuit conducted well away from the cameras. The dinner with Campos was kept quiet, and the video call from Luis Enrique came out of the blue — a personal touch that, by Pacho’s own telling, settled any doubts about where his future lay.

Away from the pitch, Pacho has reflected on the people behind his rise, penning a Players’ Tribune piece titled “Mamá, This Is for You” — a tribute to the family that shaped him.

Now attention turns to more silverware. Paris meet Europa League winners Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup, and Pacho looks set to be central to Luis Enrique’s plans as Les Parisiens chase yet another trophy.
