Paris Saint-Germain have qualified for the Coupe Gambardella final, open to clubs with teams of under-18s, 28 years after their last appearance in the showpiece.

Facing FC Nantes on Sunday, Thomas Leyssales’s side emerged victorious with a 3-2 win, thanks in particular to a late goal from Toumani Diagougara. Mathis Jangeal, who has featured for the first team this season, also distinguished himself.

In the final, at the Stade de France, as the curtain-raiser to the Coupe de France final between OGC Nice and RC Strasbourg Alsace, Les Titis will face Montpellier HSC, who secured their place by beating Stade Rennais 2–1 away from home.

PSG return to the final for the first time since 1998

Winners of the competition in 1991, PSG are nevertheless set to reach the final for the first time since 1998. On that occasion, Leandro Alves da Cunha’s teammates lost on penalties to AS Saint-Étienne. A missed opportunity for the Parisians to add to their trophy haul, following defeats in 1978 and again in 1989.
