PSG Handed Extra Super Cup Dressing Room After Complaint to UEFA

Paris Saint-Germain have been given an extra dressing room for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup against Aston Villa, after making it clear to UEFA that they were unhappy with the space allocated to them at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg.

Why the dressing room row started

Unai Emery’s Europa League winners are occupying Red Bull Salzburg’s home dressing room, leaving the away room to Paris. At a pre-match meeting on Monday, PSG officials told UEFA the arrangement left the European champions with too little space, and BBC Sport reports the club pushed for the same size of facilities as Villa — not least as reigning Super Cup holders, having beaten Tottenham on penalties last year.

UEFA’s answer was to hand Luis Enrique’s side a spare dressing room normally reserved for the match officials, giving Paris the parity they wanted. No officials were moved to accommodate the change.

The squad in Salzburg

Paris have travelled to Austria with a 20-man squad, including Vitinha, Bradley Barcola — who remains the subject of interest from Liverpool — and new signing Lucas Digne, who could face the club he left for Paris only on Sunday.

Wednesday offers Les Parisiens the chance to retain the trophy they lifted for the first time last year and add another honour to an era of back-to-back Champions League triumphs, while Villa contest their first Super Cup since 1982 — our full Super Cup preview has everything you need ahead of kick-off.
