Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly shown strong interest in signing in Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.
The Argentine star has been a key cog for Diego Simone’s side since he joined from Manchester City in 2024, and has scored 49 goals and provided 17 assists in 105 competitive appearances.
It was revealed to in a recent episode of Spanish TV show, El Chiringuito de Jugones, that there is a pursuit for the 26-year-old from Premier League leaders Arsenal as well as La Liga leaders Barcelona.
It was revealed on the show that PSG boss Luis Enrique, and also his Arsenal and Barcelona counterparts, Mikel Arteta and Hansi Flick, have all spoken to Alvarez, which could pave way for an intense transfer battle in the summer.
Prior to the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final with Arsenal, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo, was defiant that Alvarez will remain at the Metropolitano.
“Julian is an Atletico Madrid player. He is today, he will be tomorrow, and he will be next season. To keep harping on this subject seems really stupid to me,” he said.
Head coach Diego Someone, meanwhile, was not surprised by such interest in the 2022 FIFA World Cup champion.
“I can’t read his mind. It’s normal that a player like Julian is wanted by Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain , and Barcelona. It’s normal. He’s very good,” he explained.
Alvarez himself has reacted to the rumours recently, stating: “I can’t keep going out all the time to clarify or deny things.
“I don’t pay attention to what’s said on social media because it gets blown out of proportion, so I focus on what I can do on the pitch. Something comes out every week. I’m focused on giving my best for the team.”

The former River Plate player joined Atleti from Manchester City for a fee worth €95 million.
Though the Spanish capital giants are not willing to sell, it is believed he will cost in excess of €150 million to be priced away from the Metropolitano.
