Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly given captain Marquinhos the greenlight to leaving the club at the end of the season if he desires.
Reports over the 31-year-old Brazilian centre-back’s departure from the Parc des Princes have been circulating for the past two summers and the upcoming one is no different.
Marquinhos has two years left on his existing contract and still seen as an integral part of the PSG squad though he has featured just 11 times in Ligue 1 and has been an unused substitute on 12 occasions. He has however been ever-present in the quest for the French giants in the UEFA Champions League, starting in 12 of their 14 games so far.
According to L’Equipe, PSG will not stand in the way for Marquinhos whether he decides to stay and see out his contract or leave in the summer. In the event he leaves, Les Parisiens will hold talks with players seen as replacements.
Marquinhoshas played 518 times for PSG since joining from AS Roma in 2013, scoring 43 goals and providing 12 assists.
He has won a total of 37 trophies, including 10 Ligue 1 titles and the elusive Champions League.
