Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos has been included in Brazil’s 26-man squad for the international friendly matches against France and Croatia, which will take place this month in the United States of America.

He is expected to travel to North America after PSG’s Ligue 1 match against OGC Nice at the Allianz Riviera on Saturday.

Brazil will face France at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on March 28, followed by another friendly against Croatia at Camping World Stadium in Orlando on April 1.

The 31-year-old has been solid in defensive duties for Luis Enrique’s side this season, with 22 matches played across all competitions and he remains a leader and key player in Ancelotti’s Brazil squad.

Marquinhos is joined by Olympique Lyonnais striker Endrick in the Brazil squad while former Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar remains a notable omission in the latest squad.

Record chasing friendlies for Marquinhos

Despite expressing interest in playing for Portugal, Marquinhos made his international debut for Brazil in October 2013 – just a few months after he made a switch to the French capital from Roma.

He currently ranks seventh on Brazil’s all-time appearance list with 103 caps, and could overtake Bayern Munich legend Lucio if he plays the next upcoming games in the USA, moving to sixth in the all-time ranking.

Cafu holds Brazil’s all-time appearance record with 142 caps followed by Neymar in second place with 128 games under his belt.

Marquinhos set for busy summer at World Cup

The former AS Roma and Corinthians defender is set for another busy summer in the United States, just a year after he played a prominent role in PSG’s run to the FIFA Club World Cup final.

Barring any unforeseen injury setbacks, Marquinhos’ summer is expected to begin at Huntington Bank Field on June 6, when Brazil face Egypt in their final friendly match before the 2026 World Cup.

The five-time world champions are in Group C of the 2026 World Cup with Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland, aiming to end their 24-year wait for a world title.
