PSG 6-1 Slovan Bratislava: Ferran Torres Hat-Trick Launches Champions League Defence

PSG 6-1 Slovan Bratislava was the answer to every question hanging over Luis Enrique’s side. Ferran Torres scored a hat-trick and Ousmane Dembélé struck twice as the reigning European champions opened their Champions League defence with a rout of Yaya Touré’s Slovan Bratislava on Matchday 1.

How PSG 6-1 Slovan Bratislava unfolded

Paris were at it from the third minute, when Dro Fernández ran clear but could not finish. Dembélé opened the scoring when Nuno Mendes’ effort came back off the post into his path, the Ballon d’Or winner half-volleying past Dominik Takac. He soon doubled up, heading in from close range after a deflected Dro cross.

Takac was besieged — Les Parisiens managed 21 shots in the first half alone. Dembélé picked out Ferran Torres in the box for a volley at the near post, the Spaniard’s first Champions League goal in a PSG shirt after already scoring on his Ligue 1 debut.

Just over a minute after the restart, Maghnes Akliouche danced through the Slovak defence and squared for Torres to curl in his second. The hat-trick followed with an unconventional half-volley from a Dembélé corner. Suleiman Camara drifted past Illia Zabarnyi to pull one back for the visitors, but Paris had six by full-time.

It is a first emphatic night of a season that had not offered one. Paris arrived winless in Ligue 1 with two points from three games, seven points adrift of Monaco, and with a 23-man squad named under scrutiny. Europe, where they are back-to-back holders, remains the more forgiving room.
