Bradley Barcola: Carragher Warns Liverpool Off PSG Move
Liverpool have been warned to think twice before pushing ahead with a move for Bradley Barcola, with Anfield great Jamie Carragher arguing the Reds should line up a successor to Mohamed Salah before splashing out on the winger. The message lands as Paris Saint-Germain hold firm over the France forward, in no rush to sell one of the heroes of their back-to-back Champions League triumphs.
Why PSG hold the cards over Bradley Barcola
Barcola, 22, has been persistently linked with a Premier League switch this summer, and Goal reported that Carragher used a media appearance to warn Liverpool against a nine-figure gamble while Salah’s long-term replacement remains unresolved. A Liverpool offer has been pegged at around £100m, but PSG’s asking price sits higher, closer to £145m. For Les Parisiens the logic is simple: Barcola is under contract, fresh from a trophy-laden season and a second European crown, and there is no pressing need to sell as they weigh the rest of PSG’s summer transfer business.
Carragher’s point is blunt: replacing Salah must come first, and Liverpool risk overpaying for a player whose club feel no obligation to negotiate. Football365 have separately reported the Reds edging ‘closer’ amid talk of an ‘agreement’ — a characterisation Paris have not endorsed, with talks over an exit still unresolved.
For now, no deal is done. PSG’s stance leaves the ball in Liverpool’s court: meet the valuation, or look elsewhere. The European champions can afford to wait.
