Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has described head coach Luis Enrique as the club’s best asset.
The Spaniard joined the Parisians in 2023 and led them to the Champions League semi-finals in his first season before leading them to a historic treble in 2025 after defeating Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
The 55-year-old has now led them to another final where they will face Arsenal and stand a chance to win another treble.
Reflecting on the former Barcelona boss, Al-Khelaifi said: “He’s our best asset. It’s my best decision. I talked to him for 15 years to bring him in.
“He’s a fantastic coach, the best in the world, but he’s also a very good person. It’s incredible how he manages the day-to-day work, the players, everything, even with the media, which can be complicated at times in France, but he’s fantastic.
“It’s a source of pride to have Luis Enrique at the club, and to have those who are making history too [the players]. That’s what we want. We have Parisian DNA, and we show it. They’re not just players, but true warriors.
“Luis Enrique has truly revolutionized football, not just PSG, but all of football. I’m very proud of him; he’s truly the best.”
Enrique’s future at PSG
Enrique has a contract with PSG that will run out at the end of next season, and when asked if it will be extended, Al-Khelaifi responded: “Luis Enrique’s contract extension? It’s the perfect time to celebrate and think about the final.
“We also hope to finish the league season next week because Ligue 1 is important to us. And besides, the coach is the best and he’s very happy here, just like we are.”
