Achraf Hakimi Ordered To Stand Trial In France Before Morocco Face Scotland

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has been ordered to stand trial in France over an allegation of rape, according to the Associated Press. The development comes while the 27-year-old is on World Cup duty with Morocco, who face Scotland at Soldier Field in Chicago on Saturday.

The AP reports that the Nanterre prosecutor’s office confirmed the case had been referred to a criminal court. Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, described the accusation as false and said an appeal would be filed. Hakimi has denied wrongdoing. The case relates to an allegation made in 2023 and now sits with the French court process.

PSG Face A Sensitive Hakimi Situation During Morocco’s World Cup Run

For PSG, the timing is difficult because Hakimi remains one of Luis Enrique’s most important senior players and a central figure for Morocco. The right-back was named in Morocco’s squad for the 2026 World Cup and is preparing for another group-stage fixture while the legal process continues in France.

The football point is secondary to the legal process: no conviction has been recorded, and the case now moves into another stage unless an appeal changes the route. PSG supporters will still follow the situation closely because Hakimi’s availability, reputation and role for club and country all sit in the spotlight at once.
