Marquinhos hails ‘incredible’ feat reaching another UCL final

Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos has described reaching another UEFA Champions League final as “incredible”.

The French capital club defeated Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate to become the first French team to reach back-to-back finals.

They will now have the chance to win consecutive titles when they face Arsenal in Budapest on May 30, and Marquinhos wants the team to maintain their strong mentality.

“It’s incredible! Another final! In 13 years at the club, that was the fifth semi-final and now a third final,” the Brazilian stated.

“You have seen how far we have come, a long, difficult journey. This tie against Bayern was two crazy matches! But we made it to the final and we deserve it. We have worked very hard for this, since the first day of the season.

“We wanted to experience this moment again. We wanted to reach this part of the season and still have goals like this to achieve. Now, we need to enjoy this moment, but we still have more to do.

“We have to continue with the right mentality and approach the final the same way we did last year. Every player gives their maximum on the pitch, does what they have to do.

“This mentality comes from the coach, from Luis Campos and the President who have brought this team to this point. Again, this is our biggest strength.

“To reach the final of the Champions League and travel this journey, we need everyone and I think, at the risk of repeating myself, we have shown that is the key to our team and our strength.”

Champions League Milestone for Marquinhos

The 31-year-old has played 121 times in the Champions League for PSG, making him the player with most appearances in the club’s history in the competition.

He has scored 11 goals and provided four assists and will be appearing in his third final after 2020 and 2025.
