Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique is full of praise for his players and the travelling PSG fans after he described as a ‘party’ against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League.
Enrique expressed delight with his team’s dominance over the two legs that resulted in an 8-2 victory and sealed Paris Saint-Germain’s progress into the quarter-final.
Goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Senny Mayulu were enough for the Parisians to tame Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday and continue their European quest.
Enrique praised his players’ mentality that kept them focus and hungry for more goals in London despite holding a three-goal lead from the first leg that ended 5-2.
“It’s good to win like this,” the Spanish coach told the media. “We spoke about the difficulties of playing away from home after the win we earned in the first leg, but we showed how good we are tonight.
“We are happy and we want to keep going. The supporters? It was a party, like always!
“To see our fans enjoying a match like that is a beautiful thing and very positive for us. It’s another win that we dedicate to them.”
What Next for PSG
Paris Saint-Germain will make the trip back to the capital on Wednesday and will begin preparation for their French Ligue 1 trip to OGC Nice on Thursday.
Luis Enrique’s men will be on the road again this weekend as they travel to the south to face Nice at the Allianz Riviera on Saturday.
PSG are still a dominant force at the top of the Ligue 1 table with 57 points from 25 matches, and they have a game in hand while their closest rivals RC Lens sit in second with 56 points from 26 outings.
