Never meet your heroes, especially if it’s Pedro Lomba Neto.
Portuguese star Pedro Lomba Neto just proved he has no class. The star winger pushed the ball boy during an incident at the Champions League round of 16 first leg between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea. Chelsea lost the match, routed 5-2 by PSG.
Neto was frustrated when a ball boy pushed him.
Of course, there was no on-field reprimand for this behavior, and only sheepishly now is “Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Chelsea player Pedro Lomba Neto for unsportsmanlike conduct, unsporting behaviour in accordance with Article 15(1)(a)(v) of UEFA Disciplinary Regulations. “UEFA’s disciplinary bodies will take a decision on this case in due course.”
UEFA investigations are half-hearted, and it’s unclear whether this incident will lead to the punishment it deserves.
Neto gave his shirt to the boy in question after pushing him to the ground, but he deserves more than a gift shop goodie for being handled this way.
A brief check of social media platforms linked to the winger suggests Neto has not mentioned the uncouth and cowardly act. As of press time no news on that investigation have been released.
For the PSG ball boy, there is a silver lining – PSG won the match 5-2.
