Paris Saint-Germain superstar Ousmane Dembele has warned Chelsea about the team’s intention to attack in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League return leg fixture against Chelsea on Tuesday.
PSG head to Stamford Bridge with a comfortable three-goal lead from the first-leg after a dominant 5-2 victory a week ago.
The reigning European champions are in pole position to advance into the quarter-final but Dembele has ruled out PSG’s plan to play a defensive game in London.
The French striker insisted that him and his teammates will push further to hurt Chelsea at home and will give their all to score more goals.
“Our mindset is always to win matches,” Dembele told the press. “We can’t just sit back in our own half trying to defend a lead.
“We’re three goals ahead, but we’re going to keep attacking, with the determination to win. As the coach said, the word ‘resilience’ best describes our team. We always want to give 100%.”
During the first leg at Parc des Princes, PSG gave away their lead twice before finally overcoming Liam Rosenoir’s Chelsea in the closing stages of the encounter, thanks to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s brilliance in the final minutes.
The victory served as a revenge for PSG after their loss to Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup final last summer.
Dembele predicts ‘tough’ game in London
Dembele is not expecting a walk in the park at Stamford Bridge and he believes PSG will be ready to match their host’s challenge with focus and full strength.
Interestingly, the Parisians had a full weekend to prepare for the game as their Ligue 1 encounter was postponed to a later date.
“When facing a team like this, you have to stay very focused,” the Ballon d’or winner said.
“They’re a great team, a great club. We expect them to be highly motivated, and we know that in a match like this there will be some tough moments.
“Even last season, when we won the competition, we went through some tough moments. In this competition, you have to suffer.
“Every winner of this competition has suffered, you have to accept it. But it’s definitely not easy.”
A win for PSG in London would see them face either Galatasaray or Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-final.
