Virgil van Dijk has issued a rallying cry to his Liverpool teammates to be at their best level for the UEFA Champions League game against PSG on Wednesday.
Liverpool were humbled out of the FA Cup on Saturday after suffering a 4-0 loss to Manchester City.
The defeat was a blow ahead of their midweek trip to Parc des Princes where they battle Luis Enrique’s team in the first leg.
Van Dijk said: “Very important to try to get it out of the system as soon as possible. But at the moment I can only speak for myself that this is a big blow, this is tough to take, especially the way [in the] second half.
“But the reality is that midweek there is a hungry and very good PSG waiting for us.
“You could say the only good thing is there is two games to be played, but even in between those two games we play a tough game against Fulham. So yeah, a tough one.”
PSG vs Liverpool head-to-head
The last time PSG faced Liverpool in the Champions League was in the round of 16 of the 2024-25 season and the reigning European champions came out on top.
PSG suffered a 1-0 loss to Liverpool in the first leg of the game in March 2025 but bounced back with a 1-0 win at Anfield, and they managed to win the penalty shoot-out 4-1.
The last four games between PSG and Liverpool have ended in two wins apiece with the two teams scoring five goals each.
