Lens coach Pierre Sage calls PSG ‘an ogre’ as title race heats up

Share

PSG and Lens are fighting for the French league title. The Parisians have their destiny at their feet. Lens head coach Pierre Sage praised the Rouge et Bleu’s season.

Unlike last season, when PSG was Ligue 1 champion as early as Matchday 28 after a win against Angers at Parc des Princes, the league title is not yet settled with two games remaining in the current campaign.

The French capital club has a three-point lead over Lens, which won its Matchday 33 match against Nantes on Friday night (1-0).

On Sunday, hosting Brest, PSG could restore a six-point lead and move closer to the title, which it could secure Wednesday night at Lens in the rescheduled Matchday 29 match. After Lens won against Nantes, head coach Pierre Sage praised PSG’s season.

“Honestly, my opinion on PSG’s season … they are keeping pace with the rhythm we were imposing on them. As soon as we applied pressure, they set the bar very, very high.

Lately, we have given them more time, which suited them, given the other competition they played in, and they even played brilliantly,” said the Lens coach for Ligue 1+.

“We congratulate them on qualifying for the final, and we wish them to win their second consecutive title. They are an ogre, no matter how fast we run, the ogre runs very, very fast, and when he turns around and wants to bite us, we stay in place.”
