The football world was sent into frenzy on Friday as leading toy company, LEGO unveiled its commercial campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring ex-PSG stars Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe and Messi joined Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Brazil’s Vinicius Jr. to feature in the viral video that was released on Thursday.
In the video, each player held a piece of the brick to complete the trophy puzzle.
The viral video was released exactly four months after they signed a collaboration with the football governing body, FIFA on December 3.
LEGO announced that its new brick game featuring the FIFA World Cup trophy will be released in May, with pre-orders available starting today.
Interestingly, LEGO’s new campaign is a reminder of the superstars’ presence in Paris two years ago.
Mbappe & Messi’s iconic run in Paris
Mbappe and Messi played together at Parc des Princes between 2021 and 2023 before the latter left for Miami.
During their brief partnership in the French capital, the duo lifted the French Ligue 1 title back-to-back in 2022 and 2023, as well as the Trophee des Champions in 2022 with PSG.
At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Mbappe and Messi played prominent roles for France and Argentina, respectively which led to their final match-up in the final game.
Mbappe scored a hat-trick in the final but it was not enough for Les Bleues as Messi’s double inspired Argentina to win on penalties after a 3-3 draw at the end of regular time.
